“Too Many Unknowns,” Howard Stafford Tells King 5 News

Seattle King 5 News visited Rockport this morning and talked with Howard Stafford about our opposition to the Barnaby Reach project plan to divert significant Skagit River flow into the Barnaby Slough upriver from our residential community. The channel would let the river move diagonally across our valley. The design intention is that about thirty percent of the Skagit River would flow through the channel but there is no way to know what would actually happen and no way to control how much water would move through the channel. This poses a huge risk for our community, especially in the event of a catastrophic event or unforeseen environmental circumstances.

I am so proud of my husband for standing up and being heard and trying to save what he has worked his whole life to preserve.

I was there for the first 1/2 hour, too, but had to leave for my radio show (the reporters arrived a bit late). Howard did a standout job!!!
